With Seeds being minted & Seeds being sold,
there must be a need for the one to hold.
This is a thread for collecting ideas more than one with conclusions.
Right now:
- Because we’re only getting started, and if you don’t believe we’ll do great things then why are you even here? The current price only reflects the work put in, once all of this value is aggregated into a thing bigger than the sum of its parts, the price should reflect that too.
In the future:
- Speculation. No, not that kind of speculation. The futarchy kind of speculation. You use Seeds to boost rewards for the Quests & Raids you think will create value for the community. If the community finds them valuable, the value flows back to you.
- You might need them to actually play the game. We are not going the way of Web2 platforms, selling your attention. That means MetaGame might at some point implement a subscription model where you’d need to either earn Seeds & use them to play, or pay a monthly fee.
- You need to stake them when entering in a contract with someone.
- In-game skins & other cosmetics.
- Skin in the game (land on the octopus)
- Charging guilds for due dilligence/onboarding/listing
- Services we’ll be selling such as advising, building or shilling, will be charged in Seeds.
- Buy a tweet from the MetaGame account (only if deemed acceptable)
- Buy a slot on the podcast, an interview or a short ad.
- Personal tokens backed by Seeds or tradeable only for Seeds
If we go the way of a subscription model, we need to think hard about what exactly would we be offering the players. I strongly believe all educational material & the public square should always stay free. But there are some parts of the community & interface that we can charge access to.
Maybe for the actual playing interface? Access special channels? Your name in the credits?
There’s a lot to learn here from Patreon & rewards people offer to their subscribers (where subscription is voluntary), rather than projects that actually charge for access.
I’d also suggest that the higher rank you are, the more you have to pay.
If we really want the prices of Seeds themself to increase, we probably need some burning mechanisms too.
Burning
- The money we raise from future grants can at least partially be used to buy Seeds from Uniswap & burn them.
- When people buy Seed for subscription, that money is used to buy & burn Seeds
Locking & Staking
- We’ll be doing a lot of content curation & lists of “best books” and what not. Voting things up is locking up Seeds.
