Who are you, really? šŸ¤Ø

Things weā€™d love to know:

  • What brings you here, what do you most like about MetaGame?
Largely curiosity- Iā€™ve been looking for communities of like-minded people, but havenā€™t found a whole lot that seem to be, well, thinking outside the box enough. I like that the MetaGame concept is willing to be bold and ambitious, without regard to past status quoā€™s and the opinion of people who are incentivised to play the non-MetaGame.

  • What are you currently working on or are proud to have been working on?
Iā€™ve got a few big research ideas, but Iā€™m currently building out a legitimate blog, a public digital garden of my learning and ideas, miscellaneous likes and things.

  • What kind of things do you generally like doing?
I spend a lot of my time these days, outside of the job hunt, learning mathematics, physics and distributed systems, I made music for 10+ years and plan to get back to that soon.

  • What makes you happy?
The small moments in life. The first sip of the mornings coffee while looking out the window as soft rain patters on a pink rose bush. The big moments, as well though- I love watching underdogs and outcasts win.
    Finally:

  • What do you want from MetaGame?
I want to meet like-minded people who want to do cool things in the process of dismantling the dilapidated systems of human civilization. Itā€™s time.

  • What do you offer in return, what are your skills?
Iā€™m good at writing, so if you need help with words, I got you. I also code, so if programming needs done, I got you. Iā€™m also totally down to pick up something random I know nothing about and sink/swim (hopefully the latter). That kind of thing excites me as opposed to scares me.

Hi there! Iā€™m PhilH.

What brings you here, what do you most like about MetaGame?

I found out about the MetaGame through MetaCartel and was fortunate to meet and talk with some of the players at EthCC. I like the interplay between technology and the social fabric of the project. It resonates with some of my own past work and researches, like this and that.

What are you currently working on or are proud to have been working on?

Iā€™ve been recently working on a bonding curve-based tooling for funding Dapp/DAOs and distributing ownership in a way that is similar to MetaGameā€™s Seeds. I also co-founded an online community and cooperative for workersā€™ representatives. I contribute to OrgTech/DAObase and Iā€™m part of the Commons Stackā€™s Trusted Seed.

What kind of things do you generally like doing?

Building with others. Writing about tech as a social enabler.

What makes you happy?

A new dawn, a new day, a new life.

What do you want from MetaGame?

An opportunity to play, learn and build with cool people & tech.

Hello MetaGame!

My name is penguin. I am a small flightless bird, in my spare time I like to develop software, automate features, design games, make cool art, hack, do science, and generally help make cool shit happen. Originally the Pillars hooked me when I joined MetaGame. I Understood the mission and was happy to join the social networking with some of the best minds in the Ethereum Space. I am always looking to learn new things and meet interesting people.

I am currently playing Ethernal, Axie Infinity, Waterdeep, Ultima Online and SkyWeavers.
I own land in MegaCrypolis, The Sandbox, CryptoVoxels.
I am the owner and operator of Jergal Bot and Waterdeep and am currently building a new game!

Iā€™ve been floating around these communities for a few weeks now and the goals of metagame are really starting to click with me. Itā€™s really awesome to see a group of people coming together around a bootstrapped dao, only the technology and crypto hype is second to the community, as it should be.

I like the vision of this being a fully fledged town square with a tight-knit but open community where people from all across the world are collaborating on different projects and exchanging ideas.

Currently Iā€™m hanging out at Raid Guild and contributing to interesting projects that come our way on there. Iā€™ve also become a contributor to SourceCred, which has been such an awesome community to just stumble into. Before this I was working on the Aragon Project as a member of Autark. I first entered this mindspace of deentralized collaboration when I helped start Space Decentral.

I love software. I got my start in robotics in college but it was kind of an isolated problem space (except for all the awesome math) and I started teaching myself languages beyond C in 2015. I got my start 4 years ago working on databases and now Iā€™ve been working on web and web3 stuff for the last few years.

I love implementing things and right now am more comfortable doing that than thinking of things that need to be implemented.

Nature. Cities are invigorating, but few things center me more than a walk or a run in the woods.

A place where I can conduct life (and business) as my whole self. I recognize the need for professional facades in many contexts, but the idea of just being open about who you are and what youā€™re about, and allowing that to drive your interactions and how you spend your time is very appealing.

I offer code at all levels of the stack, a very loud and buoyant laugh. I also know a fair bit about robotics and aerospace engineering if that was to ever come in handy.

Keybase is my favorite tool, mostly because itā€™s all based around encryption

MetaGame seems to summarize a lot of the ideas that Iā€™ve been excited about for the last 8 years, primarily ideas surrounding contribution-based ownership of projects.

Iā€™ve just recently gone full-time as a freelance web-developer, so Iā€™ve been spending most of my time getting my bearing on that new style of working. Iā€™ve also followed the Aragon project over the last year, and contribute occasionally :eagle:

As one might expect (given my interest in MetaGame) I very much enjoy gaming, particularly VR gaming  I also occasionally mess around in Unreal to make my own games.

Really simple things, like reading a good book, or making a good mealā€¦ I think finally figuring out how to get something really challenging to work has always been one of the most rewarding experiences.

I would really like to see the philosophy (and implementation) of MetaGame within every organization one day; to the point where we almost take the system for granted.

I would like to contribute in any way I can :slightly_smiling_face: my background is web development, so Iā€™m more than happy to help out with any codebase needs.

Iā€™ve been lurking in and around the space since doing some layer 1 sharding research in the outdated sharding spec back in 2018. Since then, I havenā€™t been able to shake the feeling that this is the most important and exciting development that I could be working on. Recently, I attended EthLondon and EthCC, and felt that this isnā€™t something I could put off any longer.

I find the MetaGame community extremely compelling, as I felt that without a strong community, any learning or contribution was isolating. Iā€™m looking forward to the community and to joining quests/raids.

I think the gamification of real life is an extremely clever way to unlock latent individual and collective capital. The tokenization of community contribute

Scoping out what to work on.

Research and writing. I enjoy dev when thereā€™s something to be built, but I feel like Iā€™m still getting my head around the complexity of this space and where to dive in.

Being in the right headspace. That being said, working towards the vision of building a future rooted in collaboration, trust, and a collective positive-sum attitude really gets me going.

I want to meet other cryptophiles, have engaging discussion, and get help steering where I can contribute meaningfully.

Dev work, smart contract programming, basic design work, writing

You can reach me on Discord at Eli#0534. Iā€™m happy to give contact details if you message me directly.

I split my time between the US, Australia, and France. Iā€™m fortunate to be able to travel, and am exciting to meeting more of you in person.

(pardon the English, not my first language)

  • What brings you here, what do you most like about MetaGame?

Societies, relationships and distributed systems (whether on silicon or in nature ) are 3 of the topics I spend a lot of my mental gas on.
My interest in the Blockchain was initially just for the sake of knowledge. A nerdy desire to learn.
COVID gave me a lot of time to dig into it.
After watching some lectures I realized the world-changing potential.
Things that I only imagined in my wildest dreams are actually already happening.
For a little bit I basked in the feeling being able to see the future blossoming in front of me. Maybe even be a part of it.
Iā€™ve spent weeks daydreaming about the possibilities. I found a reason to be on my computer all night like I used to when it wasnā€™t my job.

Then, a cryptic reddit post[1] pointed me to the entrance of a rabbit hole called MetaGame.

Holy fk.**

My wildest dream is not only real. Itā€™s well underway.

  • What are you currently working on or are proud to have been working on?

Professionally: I started with electronics as teenager and ended up working at some of the largest web2 systems currently in existence. I have some scientific publications on consensus from years ago that might give me some street-cred around here

But my proudest accomplishment are ethereal and intangible. Helping friends and strangers, spending energy and money in way that maximize long term happiness of people around me and the planet as a whole.

  • What kind of things do you generally like doing?

Just a couple of vague example, but hopefully you get my spirit:

  • Use my technical skills to build things that people find useful. Anonymously. Money and recognition are not the point
  • Use my people skill to create events where people can make new friends, exchange ideas and opinions, grow, learn to be vulnerable, learn to be free. Again, anonymously as much as possible.
  • What makes you happy?

Making other people happy is probably my biggest source of happiness.

Also: good food, music, self-reinforcing positive loops that propel the world into a new age of prosperity, fairness and love.

  • What do you want from MetaGame?

I want it to be real.
And if it is real it would be my honor to contribute to it in however way I can.

  • What do you offer in return, what are your skills?

In skills terms, I understand the very foundations of Blockchain. The math underlying it, both systems and crypto. On top Iā€™m a very quality oriented developer. Stuff needs to be beautiful on the inside to work well on the outside (applies to programs as well as people).
I can lead and I can follow.
I have a head full of ideas.

I have only dipped my toe in MetaGame. I donā€™t know what lies beyond the entrance. Therefore I am not sure how I can participate and help yet. But I cannot wait to find out.

  • What brings you here, what do you most like about MetaGame?

I discovered cadCAD not long ago, as I was trying to learn more about that I stumbled upon MetaGame and became very intrigued.

Ever since I was a kid I knew that the way the system currently operated was grossly ineffective and could be reconstructed to be both healthier and better optimized. MetaGame seems to be the kind community that I have always been looking for.

  • What are you currently working on or are proud to have been working on?

I donā€™t currently have a project of any kind. I am looking to learn new things and improve my skill set at the moment. I have a few ideas that I think could be fun to flesh out further when my skill set is a a bit more broad and developed.

  • What kind of things do you generally like doing?

I really enjoy learning new things of almost any variety! I am very into climbing and dabble in some yoga. I generally just like making and building things!

  • What makes you happy?

Acceptance, belonging, and accomplishment.

  • What do you want from MetaGame?

I want to participate in a community building meaningful things.

  • What do you offer in return, what are your skills?

Iā€™m still relatively knew to development in general, but I have learned the fundamentals of smart contract development. I have a passion to learn these skills and am very deep in the ethereum/web3 rabbit hole. I am ready to contribute and learn in any way I can!

What brings you here, what do you most like about MetaGame?

In late 2017 I was working on some concepts for a blockchain and location based game to transform society / healing the planet. In early 2018 I went to South America and went more and more back to the very basics of life ā€¦ ending without connectivity and electricity in a open and hierarchy-free community working with plants and building infrastructure in the jungle.

Last week I went back to Europe the first time since 2.5 years

What are you currently working on or are proud to have been working on?

  • What are you currently working on or are proud to have been working on?

I donā€™t have any spare capacity right now outside of my full time job as a software engineer and the challenges of remaining healthy in the 21st century. My main goal right now is to build up savings so I can purchase a home to raise kids in with my partner.

I have a huge someday / maybe list of wild project ideas (thanks THC!), but I canā€™t really execute on any right now without compromising my quest to have a family and a home.

Ideally a way to support myself such that I donā€™t feel like Iā€™m compromising or hiding myself (or working on unimportant things for people whose values donā€™t align with mine).

Software dev is an obvious one. But in a previous life (i.e. more than ten years ago) I had a successful career as a magazine writer.

What brings you here, what do you most like about MetaGame?
I stumbled upon MetaGame while researching Aragon and the whole crypto thing. It sounded pretty interesting and the more i learn, the better it gets. I love the diversity and warmth of the community and the unity of a global, decentralised organism, a mega-colony, working to fix an inherently fucked system that only exists to serve the so-called elite.

What are you currently working on or are proud to have been working on?
I am currently working on some fairly mundane, bread & butter web dev but I love it! 2 years ago I returned to dev after a few years away from it, working in the building trade and various other manual jobs. I soon realised I had gotten way behind in tech and spent time relearning. I had huge issues with confidence and the classic impostor syndrome and felt like chucking it in a few times but as we entered Lockdown work just started to come. I am back to freelancing full-time and I am proud of myself for persisting and not giving up and I am excited by what the future holds.

I am now looking forward to learning new tech, meeting new people and seeing where this rabbit hole takes us.

What kind of things do you generally like doing?
Reading. Spending time with the special people in my life. I love my job, I love building stuff and I love hanging out in and with nature. Woodland :deciduous_tree: , a field, a campfire :fire: . Motorbikes. I  motorbikes :motorcycle: :motorcycle: . I love making things, be it dev projects or reclaiming shit people donā€™t want and making it into something useful or desirable again. I hate waste.

What makes you happy?
Coding, Friends, my girlfriend, a field, a campfire, tranquility, Rum. I dream of having my own piece of remote land, building a Yurt, growing my own food, having lots of animals and living a simple life with the juxtaposition of working and contributing in tech.

Finally:

What do you want from MetaGame?
I hope to meet like minded people, feel less isolated in my work and make some cool stuff. I want to learn this tech and develop my craft. Be part of something bigger than the self - I hope to contribute somehow to fixing this shitty system that exists to feed the greedy and screw everyone else. Iā€™ve just scratched the surface of MetaGame but Iā€™d like to earn myself a place in the making of this rather delicious looking pie.

What do you offer in return, what are your skills?
I am a frontend developer of many years, with a leaning toward Jamstack and have a lot of varied project experience (perm, contract & freelance) and worked as a project coordinator for a while. I am quite creative and do some web/logo design. I know some backend dev (PHP, Django) and have been learning JavaScript for about 2 years. So, I would like to build and make and to help spread the good word.

What brings you here, what do you most like about MetaGame?

What brought me here was a plunge into decentralized systems after setting out to find what ā€œdefiā€ meant. What I like most about MetaGame is probably the ideological aspect. The belief that, if weā€™re truly going to build a more just society, this is probably the best chance weā€™ve ever had. We should not take it for granite (sic).

What are you currently working on or are proud to have been working on?

Iā€™ve been a freelance designer for a long time, but had been growing weary of the tide of social media and status quo of business models over the last few years. I started playing live music, went back to study and even managed to help other people learn music. Just like Iā€™ll always be a designer, I now consider myself to always also be a musician, student, and teacher. This is what Iā€™m most proud to be working on.

What kind of things do you generally like doing?

Iā€™m a big fan of the arts. Besides music, Iā€™m into analog illustration, photography, generative art and cooking. I like learning.

What makes you happy?

Google ā€œBobby McFerrin pentatonic scaleā€ or ā€œBobby McFerrin Ave Mariaā€

What do you want from MetaGame?

Iā€™m still trying to figure out what exactly is MetaGame, what are the focal points, and where are the frontiers. What I want, at the moment, is to figure out what MetaGame is/can be. And then figure out if there are place and roles that I can fit well in. Or better yet: I would love if you guys could help me understand what kind of possibilities exist in this space. Keep in mind I had no idea what ā€œdefiā€ meant 1 week ago.

What do you offer in return, what are your skills?

Iā€™m a designer. The most accurate title is probably ā€œproduct designerā€. In plain terms, I know a bit about desing widely (from printing to branding to typography to design sprints) and a bit more about design systems, user interfaces and user experience. I consider myself a good communicator, and mostly good with words.

If one wishes to get in touch with you, how should one do it?

Hypothetically speaking, one should message me on discord. Max#3133
If that doesnā€™t work, you can try messaging me here. But it should work.

What brings you here, what do you most like about MetaGame?

I found MetaGame through DAO Hack month, then I read the Manifesto on the MetaGame Wiki. MindBlown I share a lot of the ideologies that have been spoken about here.
Instead of cribbing about why the system sucks, I want to build a new system that can replace the old one. And I love the idea of gamifying this

What are you currently working on or are proud to have been working on?

Recently been working on a few different projects:

  • Vahanam: Decentralizing supply chains
  • ArborVote: Deliberative Democracy on Blockchain
  • FbFly: DeFi for Facebook Groups
  • ShopFS: Decentralized Data Marketplace

What kind of things do you generally like doing?

I love creating cool stuff.
Coding: building applications which have lately all been dApps. Web3 ftw!
Drawing: I enjoy creating portraits of people I think are cool.
Cooking: I enjoy trying out new recipes and tasting them!
Yoga and Meditation: First I must build my inner world as I need it, then I can build the outer world as required.

What makes you happy?

Literally anything can make me happy: yum food, fun music, bug-free code, good movies, reading books, playing football, watching football, good company, yoga and meditation, etc.

What do you want from MetaGame?

I want a collaborative community with similar ideals/goals to buidl together towards the decentralized future of the world!

What do you offer in return, what are your skills?

I am a full-stack developer and a quick learner. I also bring with me passion and creativity along with a detail-oriented approach to problem solving. I can quickly get started and contribute to front-end/back-end/solidity dev.
Iā€™m also an artist, and help create artworks if they be needed.
I can also guide people into yoga and meditation. Anyone if you are dealing with some mental health issues, please lets talk about it!

If one wishes to get in touch with you, how should one do it?

Iā€™m @dan13ram everywhere. Hit me up!
Though tbh discord would be the fastest way to get a reply.
